adidas is on the mission to become the best sports company in the world, changing our lives through sports. Like every major company, adidas had to go through the digital transformation, moving away from the old ways of working to the age of the internet. The challenge for adidas information technology was to build new systems that will enable and fuel the digital economy, the e-commerce, communication with partners, company processes and revolutionary applications (such as the new AR shop attendant companion app). There are several dozens of APIs at adidas, with the number increasing every day. Keeping track, consistency, and quality of the APIs at the enterprise level proved to be a difficult task. In this talk, we will discuss how adidas solved these challenges. We will take a look at how the APIs are built at adidas, what is the complete API lifecycle while designing, building, testing, publishing and managing hypermedia APIs and underlying microservices architecture.
